I offer private photography coaching sessions in Nanaimo and Vancouver Island. Being proficient in multiple styles and genres of commercial and fine art photography, I can offer you creative guidance intuitively structured according to your level of expertise, your personal inspirations, desired skills and needs for learning.

I don't focus much on the photographic and compositional theories, if needed, you can look it up in books or online. My approach is practical, artistic and intuitive, we'll be focusing on how to create or recreate a particular mood, look or ambience, how to use the available and artificial light, how to take the advantage of the available background and settings, how to work with a model (if one is present :). I don't have a particular list or a structure for the classes. I will allow the guidance to unold naturally according to you needs and interests.

You will be required to provide your own inspiration images (photos, mood board, ideas any other reference material) of the style you want to work on, select your own indoor/studio space or an outdoor location for the classes, though I might be able to help you with the backdrop setup if needed.

An hourly rate for private lessons is $200 with your equipment and $300/hr with my equipment (lights, remote trigger, stands, reflectors, backdrop etc. If you'd like to use a pro level medium format camera, it can be arranged at extra charge, otherwise the camera you shoot with is provided by you.). 2 hours is minimum. The rates for 4 hours are $700 and $1000+tax.

Depending on the availability, I might help finding a model and/or a make-up artist, otherwise it's arranged by you if required. Please inquire regarding the availability and any details. Some of the available genres for private coaching include: beauty, portrait, fashion, boudoir, glamour, couple, artistic nudes, product, still life, landscape and nature photography. Weddings and events is not my specialty.

Modeling coaching / portfolio

If you are interested in acquiring an experience of working with a professional photographer as a model, building a modeling portfolio in various genres, or just doing it for yourself to learn a new skill, please get in touch.

An hourly rate for a modeling session is $300 with 2 hours minimum. Additional charges may include professional photo retouching (charged per image), rental of a studio space (optional), make-up artist etc. The rate for a 3-hour session with 5 retouched images is $1200+tax.
